Of course you should have a little more physical condition since the route is relatively longer and you could even say that the road is a bit more rugged. One of them is that it is definitely an even more authentic adventure in which you will explore the remote path and climb one of the highest points of Peru: the Salkantay, to then descend through the cloud forest near the jungle region. Another point in favor of this tour is that you will not find many people compared to the other alternatives that also come to Machu Picchu. In sum, Salkantay trek is a great adventure that will allow you to appreciate mountains of lush vegetation, streams, rivers and hot springs that will help you to relax your body after the physical effort of walking and you will not miss the opportunity to walk in the original Inca Trail. You can also feel the temperature changes during the ascents and descents of the big mountains along the Salkantay trek. You can also enjoy some snow at one of the highest points of the road, 4,650 meters / 15,200 feet above sea level.
