This exciting rafting expedition is ranked among the best in the world. We will start the trip from the City of Cusco to the Apurimac river known as the "Great Talker". This river is the main source of the Amazon; considered the longest river in the World. During rafting we will reach a narrow canyon with a fast impossible to cross where we will have a transfer by car for approximately 300 mt. Most of the journey will be class III and IV fast. However we will encounter some class IV and V + rapids. We will enjoy food prepared by our staff in a bonfire under the night sky and observe the variety of flora and fauna of the place. Among the wildlife; we can appreciate some river otters, wild cats, foxes, torrent ducks, cormorants, etc.The famous Apurímac river canyon, "The River God who speaks the Incas"  is ideal for sports activities such as rafting by the force of the waters of its river. The route in the Apurímac is quite demanding and requires absolute concentration. Those who know the Apurímac always say that he is the one who commands, that is why the river deserves all possible respect. No precaution is too much for those who dare to venture into its waters.The Apurimac river is one of the most visited places by sportsmen who like adrenaline, considered one of the deepest in America as well as one of the best rivers in the world for whitewater rafting . With an excellent climate and a sensation of roller coaster over the boat are interspersed with gentle stretches in which the raft is carried by the river, while extraordinary rock formations are appreciated. The Apurimac river, also is one of the main rivers of Peru, it is a high part of the Ucayali River and part of the main course of the Amazon River in the Andes mountain range, it is ranked among the best 10 world-class rivers for rafting due to its variety of rapids and pleasant climate. This exciting adventure will begin through the Andes until arriving at the Apurímac river in a 4 hour tour on our private tourist bus. This river is also the most direct source of the Amazon for what is the longest and deepest river in the world, too turbulent with its impressive whitewater located at less than 2,000 m.a.s.l. where we will live a magnificent and exciting recreational adventure because the volume of the river and the rocky land provide the ideal conditions for these activities, it will take an average of two hours to prepare all our equipment that we will use in the trip. Which trip is better for us?  

Our package offers trips of 2 full days,where you will enjoy completely of the adventure without needing to be an expert in rafting because we have best proffesionals and also you will have options: for beginners, intermediate and advanced.  

  • Class I and Class II: It is excellent for beginners or people looking for a quiet ride with the opportunity to observe birds and wildlife. It is perfect for families with small children or seniors.  
  • Class III: It offers an excellent view of the tropical rainforest for those who seek an excellent experience within the rapids and within the crystalline waters offered by its multiple pools.  
  • Class IV-V: It is a trip for people with previous experience, since they will be taken to a section where the technical difficulty of the river and the falls will demand them to the maximum.

When is the best season of the year to take a trip? 

The Apurimac River are fun all year round. The water level of the rivers depends on the rainfall, which is approximately 1 to 4 meters per year. Always take into account the water level and adjust the safety measures and equipment according to the circumstances. The rainy season goes from June to December, and the rafting trips are very exciting, during the other months it rains a little less, but it is still possible to enjoy the rapids and nature. The water temperature is around 15 degrees Celsius.


Do you need to know how to swim to take a trip?  

You DO NOT need to know how to swim to enjoy our trips. Before starting a trip you will be given a class V flotation vest and a helmet, this equipment has the approval of international quality standards. Also the guide in charge of the trip will give you a safety talk and explain the instructions before starting the trip. We suggest that if you plan to take a trip in class IV-V, you must have previous experience in rafting and feel comfortable in the water.

CUSCO - APURIMAC

We will start this first day with the pick up of your respective hotel or hostel in the morning hours(9:00 a.m), we will go in our private transport in a trip of 4 hours where we will reach an altitude of 4100 m.a.s.l from descending to an altitude of 2100 m.a.s.l the point where we will start our adventure guided by our professional guide who will give us a brief explanation about the care we must have in our descent in rapids of class I and II. We will also have a brief first aid practice in the Apurimac River. On this day we will raft for a space of 2 hours and the camp will pick you up at the place called "LAS PALTAS", where we will pick up our camp and have a hot drink before enjoying our delicious dinner around a warm campfire.

APURIMAC RIVER

We will start our day with a delicious breakfast at 7:00 am, and start raising our camp, then start navigating the rapids of class III and IV, on this day we may find rapids of class VI (these rapids generally do not run without previous experience) which we will spend a little walk, we will continue running fast class III (The minefield and Purgatory), class IV (The three Marias), passing the latter we will stop for lunch (13:30 HRS), in the afternoon we continue running fast class III, IV and even rapids of class V. Then we will arrive to our next camp (16:30 HRS), where we will organize our camp and after some rafting games we will go to take our delicious dinner and sleep.

APURIMAC - CUSCO

This our last day we will get up early and we will have our delicious breakfast, and then we will go out to run fast class III, IV and V; Along the way we will go through several points of interest such as the famous "labyrinth", "toothache", "Tu Primero", "El Babalua", and "La Ultima Sonrisa", all of them very interesting. We will continue running class III, IV and V rapids, and finally we will run fast again II and III in our last journey, After all our event near the Kunyac bridge we will say goodbye with an outdoor barbecue on the Apurimac River, before boarding our private bus to the city of Cusco where we will be arriving at approximately 5:30 pm.
