Calafate Express

Calafate Express

At El Calafate, get out there and explore the natural wonder that is the Perito Moreno Glacier, one of the world’s last “advancing” glaciers on earth. Here you will find one of the best patagonia tours you will ever take. Head to the southern end of Los Glaciares National Park, declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1981, where Moreno's 70m wall of ice sporadically crash off the narrow “Canal de los Tempanos” (Iceberg Channel) creating a natural ice dam, which eventually explodes in a dynamic display of force every 3/4 years. If you pay attention, while you are watching this huge wall of ice, there is always condors flying over and around, so try to get your best pict!

CALAFATE EXPRESS

While it is our intention to adhere to the route described below, there is a certain amount of flexibility built into the itinerary and on occasion it may be necessary, or desirable to make alterations. The itinerary is brief, as we never know exactly where our journey will take us, (remember we are in South America). Due to our style of travel and the regions we visit traveling, with All Territories can be unpredictable. The dossier is a general guide to the tour and region and any mention of specific destinations or wildlife is by no means a guarantee that they will be visited or encountered.

Day 2: El Calafate – Moreno Glacier

Full day tour into Los Glaciares National Park, declared a Natural World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Try to spot condors, rheas, eagles or flamingos en route, but the real star of the day is the glacier itself. Enjoy close-up views of the approaching front wall of the glacier during a one-hour boat cruise. Return to El Calafate for the night.
