This a Hiking of the Inca Trail designed for people with limited time but who would like to hike a section of the famous Inca Trail and enter this Inca Sanctuary through the famous Sun's Gate ("Intipunku" in Quechua language). Enjoy the natural beauty and the scenic views of this moderate trip. A great option for those with less time who want to experience Machu Picchu!!!

Wake up early and transfer to the Ollantaytambo train station and take the train to the km 104 or Chachabamba (2 Day Inca Trail headtrail). You will start the trek to Wiñay Wayna with the sounds of birdsong The half-day hike to Wiñay wayna will take you through lush vegetation of the cloud forest where exotic birds (Andean guan, Gray-breasted mountain tucan, etc) will salute you as you pass. Enjoy the scenic views of the Urubamba River and look for the playful Torrent Ducks. Do not miss the various wild Orchids and bromeliads along the hiking the inca trail!!! We will have lunch at our Wiñay Wayna campsite and have a leisurely afternoon to discover the ruins, refreshing time at the nearby creek. you might see the colorful Cocks-of-the-Rock, the national bird of Perú. In the afternoon, hiking to Machu Picchu and then continue walk down to Aguas Calientes town, transfer to the hotel. The next day, you will walk up to the lost city of the Incas and you can appreciate the sun rise in Machu Picchu, guide tour on the citadel and then rest of the day free, you can walk around or take a picture. in the night train return to Ollantaytambo and bus to Cusco.

Inca Trail Hike 2 days

Day 1: Cuzco / Aguas Calientes town

We will pick you up at your hotel in Cusco and take a small van to the Ollantaytambo train station. 1 hour train ride to the starting point of your hike. After registering at the Chachabamba park ranger station you will walk up 2-3 hours to the Wiñay Wayna through a mixture of cacti vegetation and cloud forest. Before reaching the famous Inca Trail, the Inca real will reveal itself to you through striking sightings of Choque Suysuy, Wiñay Wayna and Intipata. Refresh yourself at the local waterfall before reaching the ruins of Wiñay Wayna. Enjoy the sunset at the sungate before entering in Machu Picchu where afterwards we descend to Aguas Calientes; walking slowly and enjoying the beautiful sceneray to spend the night in a hotel.

Day 2: Machu Picchu / Cuzco

Very early, we will walk up to Lost City of the Incas where we will discover the mysteries surrounding Machu Picchu, as your guide will explain you few facts about this important Inca site. If time permits, climb up to Huayna Picchu (extra price) & explore the Temple of the Moon before heading down to Aguas Calientes to board your train back to Ollantaytambo and tourist bus to Cusco.

What to recommend that you bring?

  • Passport original
  • Original International Student Identity Card (in case you have applied for a student discount)
  • Cash in soles no dollars
  • A backpack with a change of clothes for the whole period of the trek
  • Rain gear (jacket and pants if available) or rain poncho (plastic ponchos can be purchased in Cusco)
  • Strong footwear, waterproof trekking boots recommended
  • Sandals or jogging shoes for a higher comfort while at camp
  • Warm clothes, including jacket, fleeces. Thermal clothing is also recommended, especially for sleeping
  • Flashlight/headlamp and batteries
  • Camera and batteries (batteries consume more quickly under cold conditions)
  • Hat or cap to protect you from the sun, rain and cold
  • Sun block
  • After-sun cream or hydrating cream for face and body
  • Insect repellent – minimum recommended 20% DEET – no malaria risk has been reported
  • Handkerchiefs
  • Toilet paper
  • Snacks: biscuits, energy bars, chocolate, raw fruits, muesli, etc. Please note that we do provide a daily morning snack and our meal service is very complete and well supplied. This recommendation applies for all clients being used to a specific snack, as it may happen that it is not included in our selection
  • Water container and water for the first morning. Important notice: plastic water bottles are no longer allowed into Machu Picchu. Plastic water containers (ie. Nalgene) or metal ones are recommended
  • Optionally: water- sterilizing tablets in case you pick up water from streams or rivers along the route. Otherwise, we provide filtered boiled water, which is safe to drink and has not reported any health problem so far
  • Small towel
  • Swimsuit (if you wish to go to the hot springs in Aguas Calientes)
  • Optional: walking sticks or poles (rubber covers required in order not to damage archaeological sites).
