Arrive at El Calafate at any time. Meet at El Calafate airport and transfer to the hotel. Time to explore this little town.
Full day tour into Los Glaciares National Park, declared a Natural World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Try to spot condors, rheas, eagles or flamingos en route, but the real star of the day is the glacier itself. Sliding down from atop the southern continental ice field, Moreno’s 70-m wall of ice sporadically chokes off the narrow Canal de los Tempanos, creating a natural ice dam, which eventually explodes in a dynamic display of force. Enjoy close-up views of the approaching front wall of the glacier during a one-hour boat cruise. Return to El Calafate for the night.
The town of El Chaltén, is located in the north end of Glacier Park. Hikers and climbers from all over the world arrive here, waiting for good weather to undertake the challenges presented by nature, the Fitzroy.
Trek for a full day (moderate) to Rio Blanco Base Camp and Laguna de los Tres vantage point for an absolutely stunning view, weather permitting, of the complete Fitzroy Massif. Mt. Guillaumet, St. Exupery, Mermoz, Juarez and other mountains form the jagged group. Directly across a small glacial lake rises Mt. FitzRoy, almost two miles of vertical wall in a single bound. If you have enough energy, can visit Piedras Blanca’s Glacier. The majority of the hike is of moderate difficulty, however the last 45 minutes to the viewing point is difficult but the view is worth it and is one of the highlights of the Patagonia trip.
Today at 8am you will be picked up at your hotel to start the hike to Loma del Pliegue Tumbado. This is a chain of three round rocky summits at 1340m, 1420m and 1550m. In Spanish "Loma" could be translated as "Hill", so Pliegue Tumbado it is the name of this chain of hills.
On its Northern flank runs Fitz Roy River and on its Southern flank we will find Tunel River. Carrying on further West, you would reach the impressive Cerro Solo, a challenging hill for experienced climbers, but not for hiking.
Loma del Pliegue Tumbado does not have anything spectacular and is far from being as marvelous as its neighbors, among others Cerro Torre and Cerro Fitz Roy. However it provides you with the best view on these mountains. It also gives a chance to see them from the South / South-East side, as the usual hike will take you to see from their East side. This view point is even better tha the view points of Laguna de los 3 and Cerro Torre Valley! So go there, get the top, enjoy the awesome scenery and come back with hundreds of pictures.
Hike Cerro Torre Valley to Torre Lake and Glacier for a close view, weather permitting, of the awesome spires that make up Cerro Torre and its neighbors. A treacherous cap of ice known to climbers as “the mushroom” tops this slender needle of granite. Stop by the lake for some relaxation upon your return.
Bus back to El Calafate for a transfer to the airport, or contact our sales department for extend your holidays.

Smoking marijuana and opium is a part of local culture in some parts of the world but is not acceptable for Travel Tour Group travelers. Our philosophy of travel is one of respect towards everyone we encounter, and in particular the local people who make the world the special place it is. The exploitation of prostitutes is completely contrary to this philosophy. Our group leader/local operator has the right to expel any member of the group/tour if drugs are found in their possession or they use prostitutes.
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is compulsory in order to participate on any of our trips. When traveling on a trip with us, you will not be permitted to join the tour until evidence of travel insurance has been sighted by your leader or local operator, who will take note of your insurance details. When selecting a travel insurance policy we require that at a minimum you are covered for medical expenses including emergency repatriation. We strongly recommend that the policy also covers personal liability, cancellation, curtailment and loss of luggage and personal effects. If you have credit card insurance we require proof of purchase of the trip (a receipt of credit card statement) with a credit card in your name. Contact your bank for details of their participating insurer, the level of coverage and emergency contact telephone number.
