Machu Picchu is closing 2022? Yes. Its true, this closing is generate for the Coronavirus epidemic.


The Martin Vizcarra president´s published the closing all tourist circuit around to Peru. The most popular tourist sites was open in the 2020. But March and April were closed to protection to travellers and tour operator. In Peru is starting the outbreak of the Coronavirus.


Machu Picchu, Nazca, Lake Titicaca, Peruvian Amazon, Kuelap (second of Machu Picchu), Choquequirao are closing during 15 days. Becuase the all peruvian people abide the quarantine. This stop tourist was affected to the tour operator and local travel agency. these companies are closed during the new notice and they will change the operation for the May, and June.


When is Machu Picchu closing?

Machu Picchu is not closing during the year. It is open. Machu Picchu is most popular attraction of Peru. Everyday they Ministry of Culture and Sernanp protect the lost city of the Incas. they mantinnence clean and protect during the year.


Nevertheless, in 2020 Machu Picchu is going through a lot of changes. The Ministry of Culture created the new Machu Picchu tickets, where you can visit in the different hours.

There are 3 groups during to visit Machu Picchu. This new tickets regulate the visitors. Because in the 2018. you found inside of Machu Picchu 2000 or 3000 visitors in the morning and you couldn´t walk or explore.


Inca Trail Closing.

The Inca Trail is open during the March to January and its closing during the February. This month is maintenance. the Sernanp and Ministry of culture will clean the trail.


When will Machu Picchu and Inca Trail reopen?

Machu Picchu and Inca Trail will reopen on first week of October for the foreign traveler. The Peruvian government will reopen the all frontiers in Peru.


On 2020, the Machu Picchu and Inca Trail will be free the entrance until to December 31st 2020. We can recommend to book in advance the Inca Trail, if you want to visit this year.  


The Peruvian government published the new Machu Picchu security protocols for the traveller in this season for the Coronavirus.
